ABA History

Current ABA officers | Bylaws

In two years' time, from 2004-2005, the ABA:

  • Increased membership from 80 to near 200
  • Developed a substantial and constructive Web presence
  • Implemented the Welcome Basket program for new residents
  • Implemented the very successful "Business After Hours," an opportunity to socialize at an individual ABA member's location
  • Partnered with many different organizations to begin thinking of an out-of-the-box membership philosophy, getting back to the word "community"
  • Moved our monthly meeting into the new state-of-the-art Ashland Library
  • Began a true community event called Rediscover Ashland (enhancing an already successful sidewalk sale) -- where everyone has a chance to be part of Ashland's forward progress.
  • Began using online newsletters, and e-mail notices to announce them
  • Actively promoted ties between the ABA and town government by hosting a barbecue and several Redevelopment Authority events
  • Assisted local families resettling from New Orleans as a result of Hurricane Katrina
  • Began a quick introduction of each attendee at monthly meetings, to encourage building relationships
  • Increased publicity and exposure for members via business card holders around town
  • Just to name a few....
